Jindal Petroleum Ltd. was established in the year 2008. JPL started its campaign by searching and acquiring different oil and gas blocks in different geographies of the world. Participated in various bidding rounds in countries like India, Peru, Nigeria and CIS countries. As a result of the above efforts, JPL acquired five oil and gas Blocks in Georgia. Mr. Naveen Jindal, Chairman & Managing Director led a delegation to sign contracts with the Government of Georgia for exploration and production, indicating the importance of the petroleum business for the company Also the company forayed into oil and gas sector of Bolivia where it acquired a company GTL International and has the right to work in four exploratory Blocks. After extensive exploratory activities, the company has acquired invaluable data of the fields in Bolivia.

In the Future In the Future

Upstream business: JPL endeavours to acquire Development and Producing Oil & Gas fields in various countries.

Midstream business: The company is also planning to set up transportation as well as storage facilities for crude oil and natural gas.

Downstream business: Jindal Petroleum Limited is considering venturing into refining and marketing of various petroleum products.

Mr. Naveen Jindal (Non-Executive Director)

Jindal PetroleumMr. Naveen Jindal has many facets to his personality. He is a Member of Parliament, the Chairman and Managing Director of Jindal Steel and Power Ltd (JSPL), Chancellor of the O.P. Jindal Global University, a sports enthusiast and a family man.

The youngest son of Shri. O.P. Jindal, the steel visionary and former Minister for Power in the government of Haryana, Mr Naveen Jindal is the man behind the transformation of a moderately performing company into a world class organization. After consolidating its position as a leading player in the steel, power, mining and infrastructure sectors domestically, JSPL has now diversified into the oil & gas sector and internationally with operations in Africa, Bolivia, Oman, Australia, Mongolia, Indonesia and Georgia.

Recently, JSPL was rated the Second Highest Value Creator in the world by the Boston Consulting Group of USA. Mr Jindal has also been featured among the top ten of India Inc’s Most Powerful CEOs 2011 by a survey conducted by the Indian Market Research Bureau (IMRB) for Economic Times-Corporate Dossier. He has also featured in the Most Influential People's List for the state of Haryana by India Today and has been conferred with the Ernst and Young Entrepreneur of the Year Award 2010 in the field of Energy and Infrastructure.

He is not only a successful entrepreneur but also a caring politician and an effective parliamentarian. He represents Haryana state's Kurukshetra constituency in the Lok Sabha which has a population in excess of 2 million people. He has registered two consecutive wins by impressive margins from this constituency. He started his active participation in politics during his college days, during which he was the President of the Student Government and recipient of the 'Student Leader of the Year Award' at the University of Texas at Dallas (UTD).

In recognition of Mr. Jindal's exceptional distinction in the fields of entrepreneurship and public service, unqualified reputation for honesty, personal integrity and high standards of personal and professional character, the University of Texas has named its school of management in his name. It has now been christened as Naveen Jindal School of Management. The recognition has also lead to the establishment of the Naveen Jindal Institute for Indo-American Business Studies.

Mr Jindal is a management graduate from the UTD and was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award for 2010 by the University for his contribution towards public service, being a responsible corporate citizen and guiding his company in becoming a global player.

In recognition of his outstanding contribution to legal education and corporate philanthropy, Mr. Jindal who is also the Founding Chancellor of the O.P. Jindal Global University was conferred with Justice P.N. Bhagwati Award by Dr. A.P.J. Abdul Kalam, former President of India in an award ceremony by The Capital Foundation in Delhi recently.

The O.P. Jindal Global University has four schools: Jindal Global Law School (JGLS); Jindal Global Business School (JGBS); Jindal School of International Affairs (JSIA); and Jindal School of Government and Public Policy (JGSP).

Weeding out corruption, women's empowerment, population stabilisation, aiming for a hunger free society, promotion of sports at all levels, advocating a clean environment and providing health and educational facilities across India top his agenda. His ideology is to incorporate best practices of business management into politics.

As issues of national pride and self-esteem have always been uppermost in his mind, Mr. Jindal single-handedly took up the cause of restoring in Indians a national pride, choosing the Tricolour as his symbol. As a result of his decade long crusade, the Hon'ble Supreme Court of India, in a historic judgment on January 23, 2004 held that the right to fly the National Flag freely, with respect and dignity is a Fundamental Right of every Indian Citizen.

Mr. Jindal's next campaign was successful when in December 2009 the Home Ministry agreed to a proposal made by him to fly the flag at night where the flag is installed on a monumental / giant pole with proper illumination. Taking it forward, he campaigned and in Feb 2010 got the Rules Committee of the Indian Parliament through the Hon’ble Speaker to allow the Members of Parliament to display the National Flag as a lapel pin while seated in the House. Mr. Jindal is currently putting up monumental flags of 100 ft high across the country. More than 20 flags have been hoisted up till now.

Mr. Jindal is a national record holder in skeet shooting and an accomplished Polo player. He was also a part of the Haryana shooting team that won the Gold medal at the 54th National shooting Championship competition (Big Bore) in the civilian category held at Gurgaon in May 2011.

He and his wife Shallu alongwith their children, Venkatesh and Yashasvini, reside in Delhi where they are also active in the local community and in supporting education and the performing arts.

 

Mr. Sushil Maroo (Director)

Jindal PetroleumA professional par excellence, Mr. Sushil Maroo is a stalwart in the field of strategic planning, business management, financial management, and corporate affairs. He is on the board of Jindal Steel and Power Limited (JSPL) since 2004 and is also the Group CFO. He also joined the board of Jindal Power Limited (JPL) in 2004 and is serving as the Deputy Managing Director of JPL since 2008.

With professional experience spanning more than two decades, Mr. Maroo has achieved great proficiency in areas like strategic planning, overseas acquisitions, project finance, dealing with national and international financial institutions, managing large public issues, and running businesses.

A Chartered Accountant by profession, Mr. Maroo, before joining JSPL in 2001, has had extensive work experience with reputed corporate houses like Hindustan Lever Limited, Voltas Limited (Tata Group), Nippon Dendro Ispat Limited (Mittal Group), Chambal Fertilizers Limited (Birla Group) and RPG Dholpur Power Company Limited (RPG Group).

Mr. Maroo has played a key role in shaping JSPL's expansion, its financial planning and strategic growth. As Dy. Managing Director on the Board of JPL, he has been a key member of the team that set up India's first private 1000 MW Mega Thermal Power Plant at Raigarh, Chhattisgarh.

Mr. Maroo is also on the board of all the major companies of the JSPL group and has been instrumental in the group's diversification and overseas expansion. He played a key role in achieving a breakthrough with the US$ 2.1 billion project in Bolivia apart from being involved in the expansion of the company's businesses in Odisha and Jharkhand in India.

Mr. Maroo is also behind the conception of Jindal Petroleum Ltd, which made the group venture into the oil and gas exploration sector. Today, Jindal Petroleum Georgia is the largest Oil and Gas exploration company in Georgia. His current responsibility platter also includes overseeing the group's real estate venture, which has been growing leaps and bounds under his guidance. Mr. Maroo has recently initiated group's foray into Information Technology sector.

Mr. Maroo is a professional of repute. He interacts with print and electronic media on various issues relating to steel and power industry as well as economy of the country in general. He is a member on various committees of different chambers of commerce in the country. Among the positions he holds are:

  • Founder Chairman of Indo-Georgian Chambers of Commerce established in 2010 at Georgia
  • Chairman of ASSOCHAM National Council on India - Latin American Countries Business Promotion Council, 2011-12
  • Co-Chairman of ASSOCHAM National Council on Mines and Minerals, 2011-12
  • Member of FICCI's Climate Change Task Force (FICCI CCTF), 2011-12
  • Member of Expert Committee on Power (Hydro, Thermal & Nuclear Power) 2008-09
  • Member, Organizing committee for the "Indian Electricity 2010", a major annual international exhibition & conference on the power sector on behalf of FICCI
  • Governing Committee member of Sponge Iron Manufacturers Association (SIMA) since 2007-08
  • Active member of various other committees with other chambers of commerce like PHD, IPPAI & India Tech Foundation

Mr. Anand Goel (Director)

Jindal PetroleumMr. Anand Goel is the Joint Managing Director of JSPL and the Non-Executive Director of JPL. He holds a Master Degree in Business Administration from BITS, Pilani and is one of the longest-serving Jindalites, with his association spanning over 35 years..He has closely witnessed the phenomenal growth of the group and has been associated with various crucial steps that the company has taken for its growth and expansion.

As a member of the core management group, he is respected and valued for his commitment, dedication and ability to quickly and decisively offer solutions to new challenges. His understanding of the business has been instrumental in evolving growth strategies and significantly contributed to implementation of the company's expansion and diversification projects in steel, mining and power sectors.
